Saving the Rain Forests

Article Abstract:

Clearing the rain forests will aggravate global warming, and could cause coastal flooding and unpredictable weather patterns. The U.S. Agency for International Development warns of biodiversity loss and resource depletion if the destruction of the rain forest continues. Logging companies and plantation owners are the most obvious causes of deforestation. Straightforward conservation strategies have failed to stop deforestation.

Traffic Congestion

Article Abstract:

Traffic congestion appears to not improve despite billions of dollars spent on public transit systems and highway construction. Estimated costs of wasted fuel and time due to congestion approximate $74 bil annually. Congress may have to mediate the conflict between environmentalists who want to stop highway projects and city officials who insist the best solution is more roads.
