Small regional airlines' expansion plans

Article Abstract:

Several airlines are expanding their domestic operations through small regional jets instead of the larger Boeing or Airbus airplanes. Their main reason is that regional jets are more cost-effective for domestic expansion than the Boeings and Airbuses. Among the carriers that are planning to add regional jet flights in 2000 are Delta Air Lines Inc, Northwest Airlines Inc and Continental Express Inc.

AirTran, which used the name ValuJet until Sep 1997, would not reduce workers' salaries to uphold its 3,500 workers' morale.
