TD surfs on Waterhouse's wave

Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD), Canada's No. 5 bank, provided its Manhattan, NY-based subsidiary, Waterhouse Securities Inc, the money to help the latter be a major player in the growing business of online stock trading. Waterhouse became the second-biggest online broker in the US at the end of 1998. With Waterhouse's position, TD can achieve its goal of becoming a leader in the global discount brokerage business.
