PC Dynamics (Westlake Village, CA) has a powerful menuing utility software called MenuWorks Advanced, available for $89.95 plus shipping. MenuWorks makes a menu of programs that are on a hard disk, presenting the menu as a neat list so that the microcomputer user can select the desired one with a keyboard or a mouse. Menuworks Advanced creates its menu automatically; it recognizes about 2,500 standard programs and groups them into categories. The customizable software can be especially useful for managers, supervisors or administrators. who want to set up a system so that less computer-literate workers in a department can easily use it. MenuWorks Advanced requires an IBM-compatible computer with DOS 2.0 or later and at least 512Kbytes of memory. WritePro Corp's $99.95 WritePro fiction writing software is discussed briefly. WritePro 1/2/3/4 consists of four lessons for Apple Macintosh users; WritePro Sixpack has six lessons for DOS-based computers. Both versions assist fiction writers in honing their skills and rewriting their work. WritePro is a persistent, powerful teacher.

Integrated software packages are ideal for novice computer users who need to learn some of the basic elements of word processing, spreadsheets and database, but do not yet require all of the sophisticated features found in more elaborate programs. Lotus Development Corp offers LotusWorks 3.0, a $149 integrated software package that combines word processing, spreadsheets, a dat base and a communications module. The documentation and tutorials can help new users get started. Symantec Corp offers Greatworks, a $299 integrated software package that combines eight programs into one. Greatworks offers paint, draw, chart and outline features in addition to the other more standard modules. All of the application work together allowing users to create a graphic or text in one module and paste it into another program.
