Winds of change: Black orders a shakeup at The Ottawa Citizen

Article Abstract:

Hollinger's acquisition of Southam Inc in May 1996, has led to the resignation of The Ottawa Citizen editor Jim Travers in Nov 1996. Neil Reynolds, who currently works at the Telegraph Journal, will replace him. Some worry that Conrad Black will force the paper to become more right-wing.

Article Abstract:

Rogers Communications Inc announced in May 1996, that it plans to sell the Toronto Sun Publishing Corp, which includes the Toronto Sun and Financial Post newspapers. The main reason for the sale is Rogers need to reduce long-term debt. Sun Publishing is valued at around $270 million.
