The deadly streets: Seattle warns its addicts to stay away from Vancouver

Vancouver, British Columbia's Gastown neighborhood is home to many drug addicts and the area has the highest rate of new HIV infections in North America, with close to 40% of the 8,000 addicts infected. Seattle, WA, authorities are warning addicts in that city not to visit Vancouver.

A combination of economic forces is devastating the vital forest industry of British Columbia. Recently, the declining Japanese housing market and Asian currency crisis have contributed to a downturn in an industry burdened by rising costs.
