The defector's secrets

Article Abstract:

Hussein Kamel, a son-in-law of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and the man who ran Iraq's missile, nuclear, biological and chemical weapons programs for ten years, told UN weapons inspectors, the CIA and UK intelligence officials in 1995 that after the Gulf War of 1991, Iraq had destroyed all of its biological and chemical weapons and the missiles that could carry them. Kamel had defected from Iraq, and hoped the US would back his dream of replacing Saddam as Iraqi leader. When this did not happen, Kamel returned to Iraq and was executed.
