Overbuilding has resulted in a glut of office space in virtually every British and North American city. Building values have fallen, making it difficult for owners to pay off bondholders and mortgages. The slump has made a buyer's market, but few have enough cash to take advantage.

Canadian investors are buying mutual funds at a rapid pace. At the end of 1992, Canadians had purchased $67 billion invested in mutual funds, compared to just $4 billion in 1980.
