The hunt heats up

Article Abstract:

William H. McRaven, a rear admiral, has been assigned the job of tracing Osama Bin Laden, a job that requires much ruthlessness. McRaven has headed Task Force 121 that represents a pure hybrid of civilian intelligence and military striking power, and a covert, miniature strike force with a secretive command structure, which helped to capture Saddam Hussein.

A battle over blame

A four-member commission panel, headed by James Schlesinger, former CIA director, is expected to issue its final report on abuses by United States interrogators in Abu Ghraib Prison scandal by August 18, 2004. In the report, Donald Rumsfield, the defence secretary of the United States, is expected to be widely criticized.

Issues concerning the ways in which the United States and president George W. Bush can react to the terrorist attack on New York in September 2001 are discussed. Particular attention is given to the difficulties of finding the enemy in the geologically diverse ground of Afghanistan.
