Article Abstract:

For years the Japanese have maintained a comfortable lead in the automobile industry. Today, American car manufacturers are re-emerging as a serious competitor to the Japanese. Although still below par with their Japanese counterparts, American cars are being incorporated with the features which have propelled Japanese vehicles to the number one position. Another reason for the American comeback is that US manufacturers have become more responsive to consumer needs than their Japanese counterparts.

Article Abstract:

Rising tuition costs is threatenening to put college education out of reach of many young Americans, especially those coming from middle-income families. Public educational institutuons have had to raise tuition fees, as falling tax revenues prompt state governments to reduce funding and to charge more for out-of-state students. Tuition at public educational institutions rose 10% over 1991, which is equivalent to three times the inflation rate, while at private institutions, tuition rose 6% to 7%.

Article Abstract:

The collapse of communism in Eastern Europe and the breakup of the former USSR has signalled an end to the Cold War and the threat to the security of the West. With the disappearance of its traditional enemies, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is presently redefining its role as a defender of Europe. Although the Soviet threat no longer exists, the nationalist wars that have sprung up throughout most of Eastern Europe have created a new threat to the security of the region.
