The moral high ground: do as we say, voters seem to be telling their elected officials - not as we do

Article Abstract:

The results of an opinion poll conducted Nov 19-24, 1994, reveals that many Canadians expect politicians to live up to a higher standard of ethics and morality. Fifty-eight percent said they would make a deal with a merchant to avoid taxes, but only 19% felt that a politician should do the same.

Changing notions of work: is Canada's education system preparing young people for a future in which there will be even fewer traditional jobs?

Article Abstract:

The results of a 1995 poll of Canadians found that 85% believe young people will have a harder time finding meaningful work, and 71% say the value of a high school diploma is declining. The worries are fueling efforts to make education more relevant to future job prospects.
