The sound of silence

Article Abstract:

Neil Brand, piano accompanist for silent movies, has brought life to the 1918 film, 'The Life Story of David Lloyd George.' The movie was missing for 76 years and was found in an attic. The response by the audience to Band's music and the movie showed that silent movies are still popular among movie-goers. Many credit Brand for his ability to translate his emotions into music and apply it to silent movies.

Land buyback: the lore of repossession

Article Abstract:

Australian Aborigines have started to reclaim Mogila Station land on the New South Wales/Queensland border under a government buyback scheme. The property became one of 39 culturally significant pieces of land bought by the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) since its establishment in 1995. Some outsiders fear new owners of the land will not contribute enough to the district because of little experience.
