The terror tightrope

Article Abstract:

The new draconian anti-terror law granting the ASIO and the police powers to arrest and interrogate suspects without charge and the law to eradicate suspected financing of charities and aid groups is likely to give rise to political fallout. There is a risk of a significant number of MPS breaking ranks and voting against the anti-terrorism laws as it undermined the democratic freedoms that the Australians believed in and the Prime Minister had not given a compelling case for introducing these laws.

Sunday's child

Article Abstract:

The national policy on retail trading hours in the South Australia fell into a line with the declaration under Western Australia's laws that small grocers can trade on Sundays if they have less than 10 staff.
