Article Abstract:

Atlantis chairman Michael McMillan will head the new entity called Alliance Atlantis following a merger between Alliance Communications and Atlantis. As as result. Atlantis will be transformed into the 12th largest film and TV studio in North America with combined revenues of C$597 million and assets of C$850 million for 1998. Alliance is the largest Canadian film and TV company with 1998 revenues of C$386 million. Alliance's head Robert Lantos reportedly wanted out because he was getting to an age and level of responsibility that was tiresome and may return to producing films financed by the new firm for at least three years.

Lindsey Morden to buy Ellis & Buckle

Article Abstract:

Lindsey Morden Group Inc. of Toronto, Ontario, is acquiring London UK-based Ellis and Buckle from Rutland Trust PLC for $153.6 million. The acquisition of Ellis and Buckle, which offers insurance claims management and loss management services, allows Lindsey Morden to expand anew its British presence. Lindsey Morden will pay 15 million pounds sterling of the purchase price using Lindsey Morden subordinate voting shares priced at $20 per share, while the rest will be paid in cash or unsecured notes. The transaction is expected to be completed by November 1998, pending approval by regulators and Rutland's shareholders.
