The weakening of the old boys' network

Article Abstract:

Calgary, Alberta-based Alberta Energy Co. Ltd.'s appointment of Donald Stacey as the newest member of its board of directors signals the beginning of a new trend in corporate hiring in the region. Stacey was hired by the petroleum company due to his expansive background in the international energy industry. The newest director of the Alberta Energy Co. served in various capacities with Amoco Corp., handling the oil company's operations in Canada and other parts of North America as well as in South America. The move may mark the end of appointment based on personal relationships to key positions in Canadian corporations.
