Students became very excited working in teams to create robots that could play ball. US First is a nonprofit organization dedicated to interesting young people in mathematics and science. Dean Kamen, 44, is an inventor who manages the program.

Whitfield continued developing her career as a cabaret singer even after she had been paralyzed from the waist down after being shot in 1977 by two little boys. She has made eight CDs and debuted at Carnegie Hall in summer 1995.
