Thomson snags U.S. tech testing firm

Toronto, Ont.-based Thomson Corp. has acquired Edina, Minn.-based Sylvan Prometric from parent company Columbia, Md.-based Sylvan Learning Systems Inc. Thomson Corp., which paid $775 million for Sylvan Prometric, is expanding into the electronic publishing and Internet-related sectors.
