Trusts are holding back our future market gains

Article Abstract:

The recent divestment by Precision Drilling of its foreign operations to Texas based Weatherford International for gaining trust status in Canada is analyzed. Hank Swartout, the chairman and chief executive of the company admits that once the company is converted into an energy trust there will be little room for ambition. The reasons for proliferation of trusts in Canada are analyzed and their adverse effects are discussed.
