Truth and consequences: a cabinet minister insists that she lied

Ontario cabinet minister Shelley Martel is being investigated for improperly obtaining insider information on Dr Jean-Pierre Donahue, who had angered her. Martel told a third party that charges were pending against Donahue, which indicated inside information, but she claims that she was lying.

Ontario Premier Bob Rae does not believe that he will lose the Jun 1995 election. Public support for Rae has declined due to his failure to keep his promise to offer public automobile insurance, his lack of attention to the economy, and his unpopular Social Contract.
