Vehicle sales soar 14% in August

Article Abstract:

The total number of vehicles sold in Canada reached 121,807 units in Aug 1999, up by 14% fron 107,259 in Aug 1999. The August sales total was the best monthly performance in 1999, and the best performance for the month since Aug 1989. For the first eight months of 1998, total vehice sales grew by 5% to 1.005 million from 953,579 in the same period in 1998. Total sales for 1999 is projected to reach 1.45 million units, from 1.39 million in 1998.
