Fair trade labeling: U.S. enters market

Article Abstract:

The United States entered the fair trade market when Equal Exchange, a worker-owned cooperative, began importing and roasting only fair traded coffee in 1986. Presently, more than 600 U.S. businesses sell fair trade-certified products including coffee, tea, sugar, rice and nuts in about 40,000 retail outlets.

Prayer and healing

Alternatives to traditional medicines are growing in the United States, but prayer is the most popular form. Scientifically there is no way to study prayer as an isolated phenomenon, but research data strongly suggests that there is a positive effect.
