VoiceStream to buy PowerTel

Article Abstract:

PowerTel Inc. will be bought by VoiceStream Wireless Corp., a mobile-phone services firm being acquired by Deutsche Telekom AG, for near $7.2 billion. In so doing, Deutsche Telekom will obtain 727,000 customers in the Southwest. Even if Deutsche Telekom's acquisition of VoiceStream does not go through, Voicestream will proceed with the PowerTel purchase.
