Web sites can give best clients fastest access

Article Abstract:

Content-delivery firms are developing ways to serve their clients better. EpicRealm has created a way for companies to choose who has Web pages served quickly to them and who has to wait. The service, called PriorityRealm, has been a hit with early users. It prioritizes customers just like on an airplane. The ones in first-class get better treatment while those in coach are last in the queue for a Web server's processing power. Another company dabbling in prioritization is CacheFlow which offers a do-it-yourself hardware and software kit allowing the systems administrators to implement prioritization on their own.

Fires burning up tourist plans, revenue in West

Article Abstract:

Wildfires raging across the West are having a considerably negative impact on the tourist industry there, with many wilderness areas, streams, backpacking areas and dude ranches having been closed because of the conflagration. There are no firm financial figures as yet on the effect of the fires in Montana and Idaho, which are the two states that have been hit hardest in 2000. The northern Rockies states are also being threatened because they are approaching the start of the highly lucrative fall hunting season.
