World Heart shares warm up as battery glitch fixed

Article Abstract:

World Heart Corp of Ottawa, Ontario, announced that it has fixed the problems with the faulty battery it had been using in its Heart Saver artificial heart technology. The company said that the battery heating was caused a by glitch in the printed circuit board that controls the power flow to the internal batter during recharging. The delay would push the scheduled human trials of the artificial heart back to 1st half of the year 2000.

CGI Groups wins 10-year service contract with BCE

Article Abstract:

BCE Inc has awarded a 10-yr computer services contract to CGI Group Inc. The contract, valued at $100 million in its first year, is for the development of a new billing and customer services system for BCE's Bell Mobility subsidiary and to administer millennium bug problems. Analysts think that the contract will deepen the links between CGI and BCE. CGI concentrates mainly on telecommunications and financial services firms.

Key departure leaves big hole at Finance

Article Abstract:

The departure of Finance Canada's deputy minister of finance, Kevin Lynch is seen as significant for a number of reasons. It creates an opening in the federal bureaucracy's second most important job while on the other hand, Lynch's move is not expected to cause a great shift in the government policy.
