About 470 members of the Australian Defense Force are currently deployed in operations around the world to protect Australia and its national interest. Australian Prime Minister John Howard plans to extract all the troops from the Iraq after assessing Australia's contribution to the International Coalition against Terrorism in an attempt to protect the Australian troops.

Article Abstract:

Indonesia's new ambassador, Imron Cotan's criticism of Australia's role in Iraq's invasion and occupation is discussed. The ambassador feels that Australia is adopting a double standard on invasion policies as it is evident from it's criticism of Indonesia's East Timor invasion and adds that AustraliaEs behavior towards the regional allies are arrogant and imposing.

Australian army advisers were sent to East Timor to train East Timor's Falantil guerillas into a coherent, disciplined defense force. However, deliberate ambiguous, conflicting orders from their military masters and serious differences between the departments of Defense and Foreign Affairs ensured that Australians would never be able to do their jobs at best.
