Ziggy's Chinese burn

Ziggy Switkowski, head of Telstra, has acknowledged that the company is experiencing difficulties in Asia. It will shortly have to write down the value of its investment in the Hong Kong mobile phone market via its stake in Regional Wireless. This will have a negative impact on Switkowski's own position.

One card trick

Article Abstract:

Australian firm Coles Myer instigated a discount card scheme in 1993 to achieve customer loyalty, but the costs of this became overwhelming. The company announced changes to the scheme in July 2001 splitting it into discount shares and ordinary shares.
