The president of the American Assoc of Retired Persons (AARP) describes the pride she felt in her youth, when her segregated school studied the accomplishments of African Americans. Similarly, she welcomes the volunteer efforts of all types of people in AARP volunteer activities.

Some 20,000 members of the American Assn of Retired Persons (AARP) met for the 1996 Biennial Convention, elected new officers and enjoyed the camaraderie of the gathering. AARP will continue to take an active role in helping to solve the problems of the day.
