Article Abstract:

'The State of 50+ America, 2006' report reveal that incomes in 2005 stagnated in an economy in which prices continued to rise and there was a decline in the number of people who were happy with the state of their health. A further troubling observation was that more people lived in isolation due to lack of transportation and fears about neighborhood safety.

The myths and truths about the US Security System, which is the ultimate support system to many people in the US, are discussed. Some of the misconceptions include Social Security being a broke, the funds would get into trouble in 2018 and a system of private counts would save Social Security.
