Housing price data overhaul

The Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA) reviews its procedures and is looking at using property exchange dates rather than settlements dates to determine median prices. Recent figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) show that house prices around Australia climbed by an average of 2.5% in the March quarter of 2004.
