Howard win puts media in play

The federal election results had a phenomenal effect on the stock markets especially the media sector and on media stocks like Publishing & Broadcasting, John Fairfax Holdings, Seven Network and Austereo Group. The results suggest that a more cooperative senate will ease restrictions on media ownership, which may help companies to own more than one media company and remove the cap on foreign ownership restrictions on TV networks and newspaper publishers.
