Inside five new fund categories

Morningstar rolls out five new fund categories to better assess three fast-growing strategies such as Inflation-protected Bond Funds, Long-short funds, and Target-date funds. A preview of these strategies is outlined and the favorite funds from each new category are listed. Some of these strategies include Harbor Real Return HARRX, Merger Fund MERFX, Vanguard Intl-Prot Secs VIPSX, and Vanguard Target Rtmt 2025 VTTVX.

Eaton Vance Income Fund of Boston, Payden Emerging Markets Bond Fund and Vanguard Long-Term U.S. Treasury are the three bond funds that court substantial risk. It is recommended that investors should think twice before adding these funds to their portfolios.
