The investment portfolio of a 26-year-old financial planner, Scott Haywood, director of Haywood Financial Management, Melbourne, Australia, is analyzed. Over six years he has turned his $1000 in savings into a $100,000+ portfolio. His strategy is to get rich slowly, using discipline, not skill or timing. He puts money into the Navigator master trust which offers 100+ managed funds in a range of sectors and asset classes.

In the 2005 award for excellence in risk insurance category, the Life Insurance Company of the year award was won by MLC. Term life product of the year award went to Comminsure Zurich, Trauma product of the year award was won by Asteron Comminsure. MLC also won the award for income protection product of the year. The Personal Investor magazine has instituted these awards.
