The market shows no signs of slowing which is already capital raised in initial public offerings (IPOs) to October is $9.7 billion compared to $9.2 billion for 2003, but many fund managers forecast a strong market for 2005. Biotechnology companies have swamped the market, with 18 new listing for the year 2004 compared to nine new listings for 2003.

The share market in Australia fared very well in 2004 and although the outlook for 2005 is positive, wage inflation, higher energy and material costs and the strong dollar could be a cause of concern. Many fund managers predict a continuing correction in the residential property market but non-residential construction will offset the fall.
