Professor Richard Wiseman, the author of 'The Luck Factor' and director of Luck project, has studied life's ups and downs long enough and has come up with four principles that will increase ones odds of finding a break when one needs it most. The four principles improve your chances, stir the pot, see a full glass, and take charge are expanded and presented to make them more useful for older Americans.

The cancer conundrum

Article Abstract:

The reasons for doctors denying chemotherapy for cancer patients in their 70s are discussed. The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) study believes that doctors should not discriminate their patients from receiving chemotherapy only on age basis, as older women receiving aggressive chemotherapy have showed the same survival rates as women who are much younger.

The ways in which diet, exercise and leading a healthy lifestyle help in preventing cancer are examined. The National Institutes of Health (NIH)-AARP Diet and Health Study has examined different cancer types and it has showed that physical activity provides significant protection against breast cancer.
