A senior management approach to environmental due diligence

Article Abstract:

Senior managers at electric utilities are not as confident dealing with environmental issues involved in the sale of powerplants as their counterparts in nonregulated industries. This may be due to the fact that utilities face different environmental diligence requirements from such industries as petrochemicals or petroleum refining. However, utility managers should realize that environmental issues do not demand familiarity with thousands of technical details as part of an overall risk management plan. They should see environmental due diligence as another ordinary risk management issue.
