Marginal abatement cost curves in general equilibrium: the influence of world energy prices

An attempt to define marginal abatement cost curves (MACCs) in a general equilibrium context, where global abatement affects energy prices, is made. Energy price, computable general equilibrium, etc. are also discussed in detail.

Using patent data from Yale Technology Concordance, this paper estimates the effect of new technology on energy consumption, and calculates the effect of induced innovation (1/3) and price-induced factor substitution (2/3).
