Mini-merchants for distributed generation

Article Abstract:

Distributed generation ideas are becoming increasingly known as solutions for future power requirements in the US, mainly because of the continued shift toward deregulation of the electric utility business. Connecting the merchant power concept to distributed generation allows risk-taking developers to exploit opportunities where conventional utility facilities are not the most ideal solution. The idea of the mini-merchant is connected to a distributed generation facility that aims to connect its generating portfolio to a local or regional electricity demand profile in the most efficient and economic way.
