Cathedral and Quay car park lower Coomber Street, Exeter

Article Abstract:

The 1992 UK Civic Trust Awards was won by the designers of the Cathedral and Quay car park in Exeter. The car park was designed in the genre of the 90s, focusing on use friendly qualities. The design had to complement the section of Roman wall and scenic waterside views. The car park can take up to 410 cars and cost 3,690,000 pounds sterling to build. Three circular towers built like bastions house staircases, a lift and ventilation risers. The car park is open decked, lighting is provided by sodium lights and the walls have a series of historic murals. Landscaping and planting complements the site.
