The 2000 time bomb

Article Abstract:

Companies with large databases are confronted with the century data change problem. When the calendar year changes from 1999 to 2000, many computer systems will be vulnerable because they were originally designed to recognize only the last two digits of the year. The century date change problem could lead to loss of data integrity, creating problems in several areas of the business. The three primary groups which can help provide date change solutions are reengineering tool vendors, large consulting firms and systems software and application vendors.

U.S. - Russian relations

Article Abstract:

Support from the United States to admit the former soviet ally nations of Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has strained relations between Russia and the United States. Some believe there is no reason to support NATO since the threat of a cold war is over. Others say Moscow has questionable power to control its nuclear arsenal and NATO remains necessary.
