The CFO's new world

Article Abstract:

The financial turmoil in the power sector has affectied credit strength, market capitalization and personal reputations that has given new roles for the chief financial officers (CFOs), as the quality of financial management becomes a key differentiator among companies. The CFO will be recognized for the ability to produce success on two publicly directed fronts that are clear shareholder value and unquestioned financial integrity.

Just like deoxyribonucleic acid governs the biological future of an organism, the future of electric utilities is governed by its structural, management and operating rules. These could be evolved over the years or inserted in form of new management talent with updated values and attitudes. Steps for assessing the operations of electric utility are presented and suggestions to correct the problems therein are discussed.
