Climates of the past

Article Abstract:

The climatic changes that face the world today are new only because the conditions are man-made. The planet has gone through other periods of change ranging from glaciation as recent as 6,000 years ago. Many factors affect climatic change including ocean and air currents, the planet's orbital characteristics and continental drift. Climatic conditions have varied from tropical to glacial over the last 2 millon years.

Climates of the future

Article Abstract:

Accurately predicting changes in the Earth's climate caused by greenhouse gases is difficult because of the size and complexity of the system. Models whose reference points are 100 km apart are more accurate than those 500 km apart, but are more expensive to use. The interaction between the atmosphere and the ocean, along with natural anomalies in the climate, add to the complexity of the process.
