What the rating agencies are saying

Article Abstract:

According to the rating agencies, the regulated sides of energy companies fare better than the unregulated sides. Fitch's "Global Power Quarterly" newsletter reported that the unregulated entities are successful in avoiding a liquidity crisis, but Standard & Poor's (S&P's) "Industry Report Card: U.S. Electric/Gas/Water" says that regulated utilities are expected to remain reasonably supportive of credit quality.

Sarbanes-Oxley: control matter

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), released its final rulemaking with respect to section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (Sarb-Ox). The importance of internal controls has increased and penalties on failure have become severe because of Sarb-Ox.

Sage grouse: another spotted owl?

Article Abstract:

The potential impact on energy industry from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services listing sage grouse as an endangered species are discussed. Utilities may need to place lines away from the sage grouse habitat to reduce threat.
