Year 2005: the electric vehicle in Keene, NH

Article Abstract:

The Keene, NH, National Planning and Design Competition First Award-winning design team has planned for the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) into the small town environment of Keene. The plan focuses on the potentially positive impact of EVs on the traditional downtown business district, noting recent trends have pulled consumers toward outlying shopping malls. The convenience and simplicity of a plug-in battery recharging system will lead to public acceptance of the EV.

Year 2003: electric ways of Pasadena, CA

Article Abstract:

The Pasadena, CA, design team that tied for the National Planning and Design Competition First Award for Intermediate Community endorsed Pasadena as the ideal location for the introduction of public use of electric vehicles and their supporting infrastructure. The team-designed a three-stage implementation plan that included an introductory phase through the year 2003, a transition phase through 2010 and a maturity phase that extended into the future.

Article Abstract:

Denver, CO's National Planning and Design Competition First Award-winning design team has planned for the future public use of electric vehicles in Denver, to become as convenient and safe as possible. Programs would be established for easy exchange of batteries, recharging batteries and use of vehicle ignition-controlled debit cards. Under the plan, Denver would adapt its building codes, parking lots and land use decisions to electric vehicle usage.
