GERMANY: SCHERING IN CONTRAST AGENT DEAL

Article Abstract:

Schering AG is taking a stake worth US$ 20mn in Epix Medical Inc. of Cambridge, Massachusetts, and paying another US$ 30mn for the further development and marketing rights of MS-325, a NMR contrast agent for cardiovascular imaging. The rights cover all countries except for Japan. Moreover, the German company has secured rights to a further cardiovascular contrast agent of Epix. On the other hand, Epix gets an option for the further development and co-marketing of two products under development at Schering. MS-325, which is in phase III clinical trials, will be produced by Mallinckrodt Inc.

GERMANY/US: GRAPHICAL FILMS BY NESCHEN, GBC

Article Abstract:

Neschen AG of Buckeberg and General Binding Corporation of the US have set up a 50:50 joint venture to produce self-adhesive products for the graphical industry. In order to cover the entire ink-jet market, the new company will specialise in the production of coating widths of more than 80 inches. Marketing of the products will take place independently by the two partners in Europe and North America.

GERMANY/SWITZERLAND: WAGNER AUTOMOBIL TO EMS

Article Abstract:

J. Wagner GmbH of Markdorf, Germany, has sold its Wagner Automobilsysteme division to Ems-Chemie Holding AG of Switzerland with effect from 1 February 2001. The German unit will be integrated with Eftec Europa Holding AG of Zug, Switzerland, a systems supplier for gluing, protection and sealing in the automotive sector.
