GERMANY: VIANOVA TO SECURE RESINS SUPPLY

Article Abstract:

Vianova Resins is considering to source synthetic resin from competitors or resort to its own factories in Frankfurt-Fechenheim and Hamburg in order make up for the loss of production, after an explosion and fire destroyed entirely a factory building in Wiesbaden. The explosion took place after 6 tonnes rather than 360 kg of maleic anhydride was used in the production of printing ink. It is not known yet whether an operator fault or software failure was involved. The damage caused by the explosion is estimated at DM 100mn.
