Laboratorios Dr. Vinyals S.A., Spanish Barcelona-based producer of plant extracts, has been taken over by Dutch Roermond-based Cognis B.V. In year 2000 the Spanish company with 90 staff generated a turnover of EUR 13mn. Exports contributed 70% to the total. Vinyals will become the core of Cognis Botanicals, which is part of Cognis' nutrition and health division.

SOUTH KOREA: GREENMATE TO FRESENIUS KABI

Seoul-based Greenmate Corporation, Korea's leading producer of parenteral nutrition, has been acquired 80% by German Bad Homburg-based Fresenius Kabi. The stake was sold by Korea Green Cross. In 1999 Greenmate Corporation generated a turnover of EUR 11mn. The company employs 118 staff.
