NETHERLANDS: BASELL STARTS PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

Basell has started production of styrene and propylene oxide next to a Shell site in Moerdijk. The annual capacity of the DM 900mn facility that uses processes developed by Shell amounts to 565,000 tonnes of styrene and 250,000 tonnes of propylene oxide. BASF and Shell are to build a similar facility in Seraya, Singapore, by 2002.

US: PLANT SCIENCE LABORATORY FOR BASF

Article Abstract:

A subsidiary of BASF Corp of Mount Olive, New Jersey, is to set up a genetic engineering research centre in Research Triangle Park in Raleigh, North Carolina. The centre with 150 staff will carry out research for BASF Plant Science, a joint venture of the German chemicals group and the Swedish seed company Svalof Weibull.
