Creating trust

Article Abstract:

Trust is a necessary element in the business environment. More than just fostering productivity and efficiency, it is an ethical virtue. However, varied assumptions concerning trust could lead to disastrous consequences. Rather than being a placid trait, it is a dynamic characteristic involving a trustee and a trustor. Furthermore, not all types of trust are applicable to all situations. Applying child-like trust for employer-employee relations could lead to exploitative behavior. Authentic trust includes the capacity to discern risks as well as the fortitude to overcome doubt.

And now for something completely different: from Heidegger to entrepreneurship

Article Abstract:

The book 'Disclosing New Worlds: Entrepreneurship, Democratic Action, and the Cultivation of Solidarity,' written by Charles Spinosa, Fernando Flores and Hubert Dreyfus deals with the issue of entrepreneurship. They focus heavily on the practice of skills that are essential for being but cannot be transformed by programmatic description or business prescriptions. The book is not recommended only for Heideggerians or philosophers because of its broad implications and valuable suggestions.

Business with virtue: maybe next year?

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the ability of global corporate free enterprise to strive for profitability with integrity are discussed. The old quasi-theological arguments include whether international business enterprises and capitalism can, in general, best serve humanity; whether corporations and capitalism are amoral or whether they have a conscience and can behave responsibly.
