Fisheries policy and value analysis

Article Abstract:

The emerging process of value analysis in fisheries policy is addressed, in particular, the issues that concern fundamental values and rights. Value analysis is the process of identifying, categorizing and prioritizing values of individuals and collective groups in terms of policy development. Generally, value analysis in the fisheries involves two approaches, namely the stakeholder approach and the ecosystem approach. Examples of these approaches and some recommendations for further research are given.

A pragmatic health care policy tradition: Dewey, Franklin and social reconstruction

Article Abstract:

John Dewey's views on social reconstruction suggest that a participation in the cultural activities of the times results from the ability to understand the ideals of the society. His theory is based on the achievements of Benjamin Franklin's experiments on social reconstruction. Dewey's insistence on the need for an objective critical analysis of the society reveals his views on the importance of community.
