Individual responsibility in the American corporate system: Does Sarbenes-Oxley strike the right balance?

The American corporate system requires a certain separation of individual responsibility from an executive's corporate role. It is believed that Sarbenes-Oxley strike the right balance by not upsetting the delicate balance that has already achieved in the American corporate system.

The concept that ethical behavior in individuals can be achieved by the creation of ethical institutions with ethical leaders, is examined. The qualities required to create ethical leaders, such as the four cardinal virtues, are discussed.
